Sharing Our Spoons - Birthday Exhaustion

I don't even know if I spelled exhaustion right, and I don't even care right now.

My birthday was amazing and I am so exhausted by it all. I spent it eating good food, hanging out with good friends, good family, and getting good things. I also walked way too much for my own good, which is why my feet now look like they were beaten to death with a bat.

No joke, they are pink and purple and my ankles are the size of tennis balls right now.

I'm still learning how to take it slow, even when I have extra energy that I should be reserving for other things - like showering and doing the dishes on occasion.

For those just tuning in . . .

“Sharing Our Spoons” will be a weekly link-up where you are able to find support and encouragement to focus on your entire health. Not just physical but all of you.

Last week I made a bunch of goals and I actually kept a good portion of them.

Physical: Move more - Consider that done. Of course now I need to find the good balance where my feet don't become athletic equipment that can be hit with a bat, racket, or tossed to a fellow player.

Mental/Emotional: Try and blog at least once a week. I did good this week. I'm still hoping to get back into a routine with regularly scheduled posts. As it is, I write, and then I post and I'd like to maybe get a surplus of blog posts going for my off weeks.

Spiritual: Study Sunday lessons every day. Still needs work. Not sure why this one is so hard.

Something Fun: Spend quality time with my husband. Didn't play as many games as I'd like, but we had some nice dates and spent a good amount of time together. And we bought more games, so I can see this becoming a regular thing in the future.

BONUS: Go outside for five minutes everyday. Fail! I went outside several days, but not all. And my garden suffered for it because I missed watering on a few days. This is something I think I need to set an alarm on my phone for.

THIS WEEKS GOALS!

Physical: Find the balance. I need to figure out how to keep moving when I need to, but also reserve my energy for things that really matter and in the process not over do it. So I think this week I'm going to try and use my moving to clean the house. That way I get in a little exercise, and get stuff accomplished too.

Mental/Emotional: Try and blog at least once a week. To help with this, I'm going to try and brainstorm for my blog. Get some ideas flowing about what I want to write and such. If anyone has suggestions, my ears are open.

Spiritual: Study Sunday lessons every day. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Something Fun: Learn a new game. My husband bought me Magic the Gathering for my birthday (because it's one side of geekdom that I have yet to cross), and I've never played before, so I need to spend some time figuring this thing out.

BONUS: Go outside for five minutes everyday. I'm determined. My body needs the Vitamin D, my garden needs water from the hose. Either way one of us will die and then the other will feel bad.

Getting outside for a few minutes each day is a wonderful idea. When my postmenopausal insomnia goes haywire, my doctor told me to sit outside in the morning for 30 minutes to get my circadian rhythms back on track.

My goals of late are these:

1. My Weight Watchers teacher/coach said I need to put a daily limit on Fiber One brownies to see better weight loss. I inhale these because they're yummy, especially when sprinkled with a little bit of powdered sugar, and they help, me with the chronic "back-up" created by the 12 or so drugs I take each day. So, I set a daily limit of two, and I've pretty much stuck to for the first week, which is good because I'm a compulsive overeater! I hope I see good results on the scale.

2. Get my danged refund from the "Healthy Lifestyle" part of my health insurance (which costs me $1000/month out of pocket). I have to make 120 visits to the gym in a calender year, but I always lose out becasue I end up getting sick, having surgery, or it's just too dang cold outside to get my butt in gear. My goal this year is to go 4 times/week so I can get the 120 visits over before the cold weather sets in. Fingers crossed. I've averaged about 3 times a week, which is great for a handicapped person with almost no interest in exercise (I've always been more cerebral than physical). Go me!

I hope your poor little feet fell better. Did you apologize to them for overusing them (even though it was fun use)? I try to exercise lovingkindness to the parts of my body that hurt . . .

Yeah I really wish she had that in an e-book instead of a class that gets sold out too quickly.

If you ever figure out how to find that balance, please let me know! I still struggle with that! There is a fine line between being perfectly active and overdoing it! As far as blog ideas, have you ever considered doing the Content Brew class taught by Momcomm? O-M-G. It is worth every penny and helps you not only come up with a ton of post ideas, but a ton of QUALITY post ideas!

It's so hard to find the balance between just right, too much, and not enough. Wishing you lots of spoons this week!

My husband loves Magic- and he keeps asking me to play with him in all his nerdy games- but I just can't seem to let myself... we're only a little less than 2 years married and a little more than 2 years together- I think I've got time to warm up to the idea.

Take luck!
