Why I Hate Working Mothers

That title got your attention didn't it?

I'm kidding of course, I don't hate working mothers. But one might get that impression with how often I talk about homemaking on my blog. I did want to clarify a little bit. I support the choice given to women. Whether that choice is to go to work or stay home, it's yours. I have nothing but respect for women who go out and work to support their families. Heck I was raised by them!

You never know what life will bring you. I was raised by my Grandmother who was eager to stay at home with me. But when she suffered a stroke, her husband left her, able to handle the newly added pressure of a wife who could speak or walk. My aunt Debbie, a single mother, worked two jobs to support not her own daughter but my grandmother and myself. She's a tough as nails, hard working woman.

But here's the catch:
  • She still came to all my dance recitals and plays.
  • She still came home to cook a wonderfully healthy and delicious meal.
  • She still held me when I cried, and disciplined me when I stepped out of line.
  • I never saw the inside of a daycare center, because she made arrangements.
  • I didn't have the most expensive toys, but I do remember her spending hours in a crane machine to win me a stuffed dog.
  • She played video games with me.
  • Our home was always clean.
  • And she spent a great deal of effort to teach me respect, hard work, and love of home and family.
It's women like her who I respect. Working women.

Now if you're a working woman that shoves her kids into daycare because they are interfereing with your career . . . this is where I have a problem. If you're a working woman who puts down her husband because he makes less money than you . . . this is where I have a problem. If you're a working woman who believes that when women choose to stay home, it means we are less intellegent or worthy than you . . . this is where I have a problem.

So here's to the working women! Who put great effort forth to raise children, so that they have the choice to be homemakers or not.

Daily Gratitudes:
  1. Sleeping in.
  2. Payday.
  3. Working mothers.
  4. Stay at home mothers.
  5. And everyone else in between.

What a great post, yea for working mothers and stay at home mothers. I fall into the working mothers category, but one day hope to be a SAHM.
